Patrizia Nanz has been Vice President of the Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management (BASE) in Germany since February 2021. Prior to taking office, she was Scientific Director at the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) and Professor of Transformative Sustainability Science at the University of Potsdam from 2016 to 2021. She is the founding director of the Franco-German Zukunftswerk, which she turned into a dialogue forum for social-ecological transformations. As an expert on public participation and innovative governance, she has advised the German government in a variety of contexts. Inter alia, as co-chair of the Science Platform Sustainability 2030 and as a member of the High-Tech Forum.
