William (Bill) Peduto held the office of Mayor of the City of Pittsburgh from January 2014 to January 2022. Prior to taking office, he served on the Pittsburgh City Council for 19 years and authored comprehensive legislative packages for Pittsburgh’s administrative reform. As mayor, Peduto worked to improve Pittsburgh’s reputation by significantly advancing transparency in the use of taxpayer funds, and took a leadership role in green initiatives to combat climate change. In doing so, the Peduto administration focused on the city’s energy security particularly through district energy production and reaffirming Pittsburgh’s commitment to the Paris Agreement. Following his term as Mayor of Pittsburgh, Bill Peduto served as Distinguished Executive in Residence at the Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy from April 2022 to March 2023. Peduto is also a founding member of the MetroLab Network, a national alliance of cities and universities committed to providing analytically-based solutions to improve urban infrastructure, services, and other public sector priorities.
